Please reach me at PelikanSportsMassage@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Sports and Remedial massage is applied with your goals in mind, meaning we look at what you need and then apply the relevant technique(s) to help you reach your goals. These techniques vary from finding muscle imbalances which may be the cause of your current issue and offering remedial exercises to correct them, through to questions about your sports equipment or mechanism of injury, to treating the tissues which are crying out for attention. Your goals may vary depending on whether you are carrying an injury or are just needing to bring your legs back to life for your next training session.
Absolutely yes! Overuse injuries can occur in everyday life and are generally brought on by the things we do repetitively everyday. For example, many people working from home suffer from back pain due to bad posture caused by inadequate working set up.
During the first session a brief history is taken prior to the massage including your sports goals or event deadlines. I may do tests and no doubt will review your posture . After that we agree on the treatment plan and get cracking with the massage. Quick aftercare chat at the end of the session.
I use towels to maintain the clients modesty during the treatment. However, please wear suitable underwear or a pair of stretchy shorts as I may have to carry out a few tests during the consultation depending on the reason of your visit. For ladies receiving a back treatment it is always helpful to wear a bra that can be undone at the back.
Sports massage therapist can use considerable pressure and utilises some deep techniques which may cause some discomfort, however the treatment is client led. The therapist will frequently ask you to rate your discomfort on a scale 1-10 so honest feedback is very important to achieve the best results.
60 or 90 minutes depending on the clients choice.
