I studied sports massage at St Mary's University, Twickenham, where I gained my ITEC Level 4 Diploma. St Mary's has a long-established reputation for sports-related education and its School of Massage provides hands-on, practical training alongside detailed anatomy and physiology studies.
I'm also a parent, triathlete and ultra-marathon runner, so I know first-hand what it's like to fit training around work, family and everyday life — and how frustrating it can be when an injury or persistent niggle gets in the way.
My interest in sports massage started from my own experience of needing treatment.
As a runner and triathlete, I've had my fair share of injuries and time away from training. Rather than simply waiting for things to get better, I became interested in understanding why problems were happening and what I could do to manage them.
That interest eventually led me to study sports massage and develop my knowledge of different treatment techniques, including dry needling.
I now enjoy using that knowledge to help other people — whether they're training for their next race, working a physically demanding job, dealing with everyday muscle tension, or simply want some time to relax.
I don't believe that being a good therapist is about simply giving someone a hard massage.
Every person is different, which is why I take the time to listen, understand what you're experiencing and find out what you want from your treatment. I'll then tailor the appointment around you rather than following a standard routine.
Depending on what you need, I may use sports massage alongside techniques such as dry needling, Muscle Energy Techniques, taping or IASTM.
Most importantly, you'll never be made to feel that you need to understand all the terminology or decide which techniques you need before you arrive. That's my job
.
I'm an ITEC Level 4 qualified sports massage therapist and dry needling practitioner and a member of the Sports Massage Association.
I work from a dedicated professional treatment room in Ashford, as well as offering mobile appointments in the surrounding area.
Whether you're an experienced athlete, someone who simply enjoys keeping active, have a physically demanding job, or just want to switch off and relax, you're welcome.
